Our holistic approach began with the Basketry Development Programme in 2017, fostering immediate job creation. This was followed by our vital Reproductive Health Education and Reusable Sanitary Pads Programmes, launched in 2019, addressing critical health and educational barriers. Since 2020, our Vocational Skills Training Programme has further equipped young people to become thriving business owners.
The power of our programmes
Vocational Skills Training: A testament to resilience, 72% of all beneficiaries from our vocational skills training are teenage mothers who had previously dropped out of school. Through learning trades such as tailoring, hairdressing, welding, and textile weaving, they are building new futures.
The Miracle Baskets: Our signature basketry project plays a pivotal role in the development of rural Ghana, particularly for women and girls. From humble elephant grass, ASIGE artisans meticulously craft innovative, modern, and stylish products that offer sustainable alternatives for homes and outdoor events. These "miracle baskets" currently employ over 400 individuals in Bolgatanga, Ghana, providing stable income to support their families. Remarkably, the average daily income for these women increased from just $0.25 to $2 USD by 2022.
