Azaare Apongange is ASIGE’s Master Weaver and a pivotal figure in the organisation’s creative and technical excellence. With deep expertise in traditional Bolga basket weaving, Azaare brings a rare combination of artistry, precision, and mentorship to his role.

Since joining ASIGE in 2020, Azaare has served as lead trainer and quality control officer, ensuring every basket meets the highest standards of craftsmanship and consistency. His work is central to maintaining ASIGE’s global reputation for quality and innovation in handwoven products.

Renowned for his ability to execute complex and bespoke designs, Azaare works closely with over 450 women across multiple communities providing technical guidance, creative input, and hands-on training. He is deeply committed to empowering ASIGE’s women weavers to stretch their creative boundaries and master new techniques.

I believe every design is possible at ASIGE,” he often says, a testament to his belief in innovation through heritage.

Azaare is married and a father of two. His dedication, patience, and skill have made him an invaluable part of the ASIGE family and a quiet force behind its design evolution.
