Women’s Leader

Rose Akuribire

Rose Akuribire is the Women’s Leader at ASIGE and a long standing advocate for women’s empowerment in the Upper East Region of Ghana. With decades of experience in grassroots community mobilisation, Rose plays a pivotal role in ASIGE and continues to lead the original Sumbrungu weaving group to this day.

As the overall women’s coordinator across ASIGE’s seven weaving communities, Rose oversees more than 450 women weavers. She leads initiatives focused on women’s welfare, family life, community leadership, and conflict resolution. Rose also serves as a trusted point of contact for reporting gender based violence, sexual harassment and discrimination offering both guidance and support.

Highly respected within the community, Rose is more than a leader, she is a role model, mentor, and protector of women’s rights, fostering a culture of dignity, solidarity, and resilience at the heart of ASIGE’s mission.
